My Aunt Louise had a special connection with my mom, Catherine (Kay). The two sisters had a “camp” near the summer headquarter’s at Hahn’s Peak called Kay-Lou camp. I think of mom and Aunt Louise every time I pitch my tent at Pearl Lake State Park.

When I was born, mom gave me the name Louise as a middle name after my Aunt Lou. While Lou and I weren’t super close, I do remember her helping mom shuffle my sister and I to the orthodontist in Denver for monthly appointments. We rode the train through the Moffat tunnel!
